So we’ve been “celebrating” Corpus Christi alllll week in Cuenca, which is only about 2 things (other than God but he hasn’t made much of an appearance): dulces and explosions/flying fireballs/fireworks. Yes. The whole of Parque Calderon is lined with at least 100 booths of ladies selling candy and chocolate and cookies and donuts and coconut clusters and fudge and and and for the past week. I can hardly contain myself. then, several times each night they set a huge structure on fire which explodes with fireworks and flashing lights and shooting beams of fire as all the ecaudorians laugh and run underneath of it.
    Cuenca misses you!
